On November 27 at 5AM, Harrison Police received a call about a person who may have been impersonating a police officers. The male knocked on an apartment door on Franklin Avenue and inquired about the location of an individual. Although the suspect displayed a badge hanging around his neck, he did not identify himself. At least two residents had an interaction with him. One resident appropriately contacted the Harrison Police because the interaction seemed suspicious.
In this case, we were able to determine this was a legitimate police contact from an outside agency attempting to share information. However, residents are reminded to call us anytime they are concerned about something in their neighborhood. It is very important for us to be able to respond as soon as something happens rather than later. Any law enforcement in plainclothes conducting legitimate business will be happy to identify themselves with a badge, and ID if necessary. If you have any doubts, contact the Harrison Police.
