Individual
Harrison residents may obtain Library cards free of charge.
Out of Town residents pay a fee of $25.00 per year.
Adult East Newark residents and children up to the 8th grade, are charge $5.00 per card, per year which is paid for by the Borough of East Newark.
Out of Town residents who work for the Town of Harrison or the Board of Ed are charged $10.00 per year with proper identification, i.e. driver’s license and proof of employment.
Adults residing in Harrison must present a picture Id, and a proof of residency in the form of a PSE& G bill; telephone bill; bank statement etc. Post Office Box numbers are not accepted.
When all information on the application is verified, a postcard is sent to the address listed on the application. When the postcard is received, it must be returned personally, in order to have a Library card issued.
Juveniles must be accompanied by a parent/guardian who will sign the application in their behalf.
Lost cards
A lost card should be reported to the Library as soon as possible. A fee of $5.00 will be charged to cover the cost of the replacement.
Fines
All delinquent material is subject to a fine of 10c per day per book and/or $1.00 per day per video. If the item is returned, the maximum fine is $5.00 per book and/or $10.00 per video.
Any material may be renewed two (2) times, providing there are no other reservations for the material.
Materials will not be held in reserve for more than two (2) days.
Patrons MUST have a library card to borrow library materials, and patrons are responsible for any material borrowed with his or her card. Do not lend your library card to others. If they fail to return the material that they borrowed with your card, you will be responsible for it.
Please return you library material when it is due, or pay the fines set up by the Library Board of Trustees. The fines for overdue material is $.10 per item per day up to a maximum of $5.00. The cost for an overdue video is $1.00 per day up to a maximum fine of $10.00 per video.
Children books are not renewable.
The fee for a lost library card is $5.00. If you lose your card, please report it lost as soon as possible. There is usually a one-week waiting period to receive a new card.
Computers are available for internet access and word-processing.
Printing is available at $.15 per page.
A patron may check out up to three items at a time in any combination, i.e. a book, magazine or video, three books, three videos, etc.
Loan period:
- Adult Non-fiction - 3 weeks
- Videos - 2 day - Free of Charge
- All other material - 2 weeks
- Children material cannot be renewed
Juveniles must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to borrow a video.
No more than three (3) items may be borrowed within a loan period. No more than two items on the same subject may be taken within a loan period.
Fines for overdue materials:
- Books and Periodicals - $0.10 per item, per day up to a maximum of $5.00.
- DVDs - $1.00 per day up to a maximum of $10.00.
